Morrilton chamber hosts annual awards banquet

Held at Sacred Heart School, local business and community leaders were present to hear keynote speaker, Eddie Drilling, president of AT&T Arkansas. Drilling spoke about the company’s dedication to education and workforce development to keep up with the constantly changing communication industry. 

There was also a special presentation of a new promotional video for the Morrilton area that highlights ongoing community development efforts and encourages people to see further opportunities in Conway County and Morrilton.

The evening concluded with chamber chairman Lucy Tipton presenting awards recognizing outstanding efforts in business and community development in the Morrilton area: 

The Stover Family was recognized as Farm Family of the Year and received a plaque from Farm Bureau and the Morrilton chamber.

This year’s Outstanding Community Project award was presented to Mobley Contractors and Morrilton High School for the new Mobley Contractors Field artificial turf and track.

The Excellence in Education Award went to UACCM for its new library complex.

Wayne Smith Trucking was recognized as Business Site of the Year. 

Derrick Newsome was named Youth Citizen of the Year.

Mollie Williams was honored with the Citizen of the Year Award. (See Page 66 for more information.) 

The 2010 Earle Love Business Leader of the Year award was presented to a surprised Larry Miller by 2009 winner Ancel Carlon.

Outgoing board members Susan Gunderman, Mike Fleeman and Mike Dunaway were also recognized.
