Monsters on Main Street

An estimated 2,000 children, dressed in all manner of costume, turned out on Halloween for the annual Monsters on Main Street in Downtown Morrilton.

Stephanie Lipsmeyer and Gwen Massingill were the co-chairmen for the event, which was free and has been held for more than 15 years. It typically draws between 1,700 and 2,200.

Activities were planned in the area around the train depot, but participants were able to “trick or treat” at businesses throughout downtown. A costume contest followed at the Rialto Theater.
