Melodies and Medicine raises $36,000

St. Vincent Morrilton recently hosted its fourth annual Melodies and Medicine event.

The “Puttin’ on the Glitz” event – held on the St. Vincent Morrilton lawn – provided an evening of food, music and fun for the community. It also raised $36,000, including in-kind support, for St. Vincent Morrilton.

Tara and George Nawar, M.D. and Juanebe and Russell Allison, M.D. served as co-chairs for this event.

The night began with a “Taste of Morrilton” dinner featuring dishes from local restaurants and music by the Arkansas Jazz Trio. Guests were treated to appetizers from Petit Jean Meats, a main course of pork loin with peach salsa from the River Rock Grill at the Winthrop Rockefeller Conference Center, green beans from the Plaza at University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton, twice baked potatoes from Personal Touch Catering, homemade bread from Bea Thompson, Delores Hartman and Mona Kay Boyle and cheesecake from Imperial Vending and beverages from Otto Lienhart Distributors, Inc., Clover Alley Gifts and Frozen Dreams.

The second half of the evening included a Melodies and Medicine Talent Competition where performers from four of the event sponsors competed for the title of Melodies Champion. Competitors included: Big on Biggs Trio, sponsored by Petit Jean Medical Supply; Ashton Taylor, sponsored by Rich & Natalie Moellers; Craig Boyle, sponsored by Farmers & Merchants Bank; and Faith Cats, sponsored by Chris and Christy Hockaday. The winner of the talent competition was determined by dollar donation voting with Faith Cats being named the Melodies Champion.

Throughout the evening a live auction was performed by Nelson Ennis and Megan Voss.

All proceeds from the event support the healing mission of St. Vincent Morrilton and will be dedicated to the purchase of patient care equipment in the surgery department.
