Maumelle chamber of commerce celebrates 25th anniversary

The Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating 25 years in business.

Established in 1991, the Chamber has grown to more than 400 members that reach from the City of Maumelle to as far away as Lula, Miss.

The Chamber is a non-profit, volunteer membership, action-oriented business organization that serves as the voice for the community. The goal is to enhance the business climate by providing resources for advocacy, education and growth in the city.

“Our efforts keep local business leaders and residents involved in every aspect of life in Maumelle,” said executive director Alicia Gillen. “Where we live, work and play.”

As the front door to the community, the Chamber is the first place residents look for guidance and information about the city and its resources. Chamber committees, volunteers, events and programs provide businesses in Maumelle the opportunity to gain exposure throughout the area. In addition, the Chamber supports a vital component to the growth of the city through the Educational Committee that partners with local Charter, elementary, middle and high schools.

The Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce is overseen by a 12-member board of directors responsible for establishing procedures and formulating policies. It is also their responsibility for adopting all policies, control its property, oversee the Chamber’s finances and direct its affairs. In addition, the Mayor of Maumelle and the City Director of Community & Economic Development serve as advisors to the board.
