23 Aug 2023 Malykhin places 26th at World Championships

SEARCY — Harding’s Vlad Malykhin placed 26th in the pole vault Wednesday at the 2023 World Track and Field Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Malykhin, a native of Shostka, Ukraine and two-time NCAA Division II national champion, cleared 5.35 meters or 17 feet, 6.50 inches.

Thirteen of the 34 competitors qualified for the final by clearing at least 5.75 meters. Malykhin’s career high and the Harding school record is 5.71 meters.
