Little Rock second in OVC Commissioner Cup standings

For the second straight year, the Little Rock Athletic Department finished strong in the OVC Commissioner’s Cup standings. After winning the Cup last year, the Trojans (104.5) took a close second to SEMO (107) this year.

“I’m incredibly proud of the exceptional performances delivered by Trojan Student-Athletes and Coaches over the past year,” said Little Rock Director of Athletics Frank M. Cuervo. “At Little Rock, we are committed to excellence in every facet of competition and hold ourselves to the highest standards. Our goal is to be at the top of the Ohio Valley Conference in every sport, every season. We fully intend to set the pace in the OVC and look forward to building on this momentum and raising the bar even higher during the upcoming 2025–26 academic year.”

Lindenwood (93) was third followed by Eastern Illinois (92.5) and Tennessee Tech (90).

The award is given to the OVC program that accumulates the most points during the school year based on a set of criteria that awards points for conference titles, tournament titles and upper-tier finishes. Programs must have 13 sports and count volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball in their finishes. Points are based on how many teams compete in a sport.

The Trojan men’s indoor track team notched 9 points for its conference championship and the men’s golf team earned 11 points for its title. The women’s indoor and outdoor track teams each took second and accumulated 10 points apiece. A second-place finish in women’s soccer earned the Trojans 8.5 points. The men’s basketball team also totaled 8.5 points with a fourth-place finish.

The standings do not include the continued success of the Little Rock wrestling program, which competes as a member of the PAC-12. The wrestling program won the PAC-12 duals and sent five wrestlers to NCAA Nationals.

In addition to the athletic success, the Department achieved a 3.43 cumulative GPA for this school year.

Little Rock amassed 110.5 points last year and shared the cup with Eastern Illinois after capturing five regular-season titles in men’s basketball, baseball, women’s golf, and men’s indoor and outdoor track and field. The Trojans also finished second in women’s Basketball and women’s Indoor and outdoor track and field.
