12 Jun 2024 Little Rock boasts five programs with perfect APR scores
LITTLE ROCK — Five Little Rock teams achieved perfect scores, and four more scored in the Top 10 percent for their respective sports in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR) report, released earlier this week by the NCAA. Little Rock student-athletes scored a 967 multi-year rate. In addition, the Trojans scored a 980 for the most recently scored academic year, showcasing the continued academic excellence of Little Rock student-athletes.
“We continue to be proud of the academic achievements of our student-athletes, who are among the best and brightest on the UA Little Rock campus,” Frank M. Cuervo, Director of Athletics said. “I commend the efforts of all those involved with supporting them to earn this distinction, including our coaches, academic services team, and the UA Little Rock Faculty, who do such an incredible job instructing tomorrow’s leaders.”
Four Little Rock teams were recognized for having an APR score in the Top 10 percent of all programs nationally – men’s track & field, wrestling, women’s cross country, and women’s soccer. Men’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s cross country, women’s cross country, and volleyball all achieved a perfect 1,000, single-year rate, the maximum score possible.
Baseball (990), wrestling (983), and swimming and diving (982) achieved APR scores above 975, while five programs – men’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s golf, swimming and diving, and volleyball – received APR scores above 975 for the multi-year period.
APR provides a real-time look at a team’s academic success each quarter by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team’s academic performance. The APR scores released by the NCAA this week reflect those academic rates from the 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 academic years.
