Last day for Tour de Rock registration

Little Rock — Cycling enthusiasts will ride the Tour de Rock route on Saturday, June 4. This is the 19th year for the event which benefits CARTI cancer treatment centers throughout Arkansas. The ride, which starts and ends in North Little Rock, winds and weaves through Central Arkansas and attracts a wide range of cyclists at varying skill and distance levels. Routes are available for 25, 50, 62 and 100-mile riders, along with a Pace Group for those racing to break the coveted five-hour mark for the Century Ride. Registration is open until June 2 at CARTI.com

“Funds raised through Tour de Rock have played an integral role in supporting CARTI’s patient assistance programs. Through the generosity of the cyclists, volunteers and attendees, we can continue to provide services to support patients at every stage of their cancer journey,” said Adam Head, president and CEO of CARTI. “In fact, many former and current patients ride in this race as do employees and family who are honoring survivors or loved ones. It’s a moving experience seeing the ‘I ride for’ name bibs and hearing the stories. If you aren’t a cyclists, come out and cheer them on at one of our rest stops.”

Tour de Rock is a well-supported ride with plenty of rest stops along the way. This year, the rest stops will follow various takes on a rock and roll theme and volunteers will embrace these themes with costumes and décor. An award for the best rest stop theme will be given at the afternoon party held at the Heifer International Pavilion.

“The volunteers go out all,” said Jennifer Selig, executive director of the CARTI Foundation. “They do an amazing job creating a fun environment to welcome riders. Everyone wants to support the riders who are passionate about cycling and making the lives of those dealing with cancer easier.”

Patient services that benefit from the race are those designed to reduce barriers to treatment such as transportation assistance, lodging, counseling and more.

“CARTI treats the whole patient,” said Scott Stern, MD, and chief medical director. “Reducing barriers to treatment is a vital component to that and a hallmark of CARTI’s mission of quality and compassionate care. Tour de Rock is a great way to join with the community to see this passion for care in action, literally, as riders zip by peddling hard for those affected by cancer.”

All registrations include a pass to the Tour de Rock After Party at Heifer. Tickets are also available online for $25, which includes barbeque by Count Porkula, Edwards Food Giant and more than eight craft beer breweries.
