21 Apr 2025 Kiwanis Club of Conway honored by Arkansas House of Representatives
CONWAY — On March 21, the Kiwanis Club of Conway was honored by the Arkansas House of Representatives for a key project at the Arkansas Capitol. District 73 State Representative Mary Bentley presented House Resolution 1074 to her peers to recognize the “Bookcase for Every Child” program because 1,000 bookcases have been gifted to children enrolled in the Federal Head Start program. It was passed by a unanimous vote.

On May 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the Kiwanis Club will award 50 more personalized bookcases to preschoolers in a ceremony held at The Faulkner County Library at 1900 West Tyler St.. The public is invited. The Bookcase Project was founded in 2005 by author and syndicated columnist Jim Davidson, who is a Kiwanis Club member.

The director of the project is Kiwanian Richard Plotkin. It is successful because Kiwanis Club members collaborate with the director of our library and the director of the local program that educates children who are part of Head Start, along with other caring community members and businesses.
