Junior Auxiliary members attend education conference

“Discovering Your JA Superpower” was the message to members of Junior Auxiliary of Searcy at the 75th Annual Education Conference held recently at the Hilton Memphis. More than 600 ladies were in attendance at this year’s event.

“We learned valuable information that we could bring back to our community and implement to further help the children of White County,” said Alicia Hammer, president. The Junior Auxiliary of Searcy has 29 active members who dedicated a total of 1,204 community service hours to White County during the 2015-16 school year.

Junior Auxiliary of Searcy is a part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA), a non-profit organization founded in 1941 with headquarters in Greenville, Miss. NAJA has more than 15,800 active, associate and life members in 95 chapters in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. NAJA hosts an annual meeting in various cities across the southeast to offer training and assistance to the organization’s chapters.

This year’s conference brought entertaining and engaging speakers to motivate and encourage attendees. New York Times bestselling author Glennon Doyle Melton spoke about her experiences with marriage, motherhood, faith, addiction and recovery to kick off the event. She is known for her unique ability to inspire women to embrace unity and each other.

While several training workshops were offered for chapter officers and chairmen, there were also informative sessions on creating new and exciting projects to best serve the community’s children.

Junior Auxiliary represents a serious endeavor on the part of women to be active and constructive community participants and to assume leadership roles in meeting community needs. The mission of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries is to provide support, resources and educational, leadership, cultural and healthcare training for NAJA members in order to optimize community service by NAJA Chapters.
