Jessieville: Lions return experience in '14

Conference: 5-3A
Coach: Don Phillips
’13 Record: 1-9 (0-7)

After three years in a row of at least seven wins, the Jessieville Lions had the most uncharacteristic season in school history. The Lions won just one game — Week One over Mountain Pine, 58-12.

A new season brings new hope for the Lions, who look to return to form in 2014.

Junior Hunter Daley is likely to take over at quarterback. Junior Nick Marshall played some quarterback last season but moves back to his natural fit at running back this fall. Junior Tali Nasilai returns at running back after rushing for almost 900 yards as a sophomore. Juniors Dusty Rhodes, Caleb Bliss and Kody Green and senior James Yurina lead the way on the offensive line.

Bliss returns at defensive end. Junior Hunter Meredith returns at the other end spot. Nasilai also sees starting time at linebacker, in addition to his running back duties. Senior Bryce Cockman returns at safety and Junior Wesley Castleberry returns at cornerback to lead the Jessieville defensive secondary.
