GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season by inspiring people to give back today and throughout the year.

The movement was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. GivingTuesday was born and incubated at the 92nd Street Y and its Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact in New York City. It is now an independent nonprofit and a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity.

GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and world. Many nonprofit organizations set goals, and some offer matching donations for gifts given today.
