HP teams up with schools for Valentine project

by Sonja J. Keith

More than 1,200 cards were created by Faulkner County schoolchildren for patients at Arkansas Children’s Hospital through a Valentine Card Project sponsored by HP in Conway.

“We made over 1,260 cards which was amazing!” said Valerie Lane, site program manager
at the Conway customer contact center.

About 60 HP employees signed up for the project, which took place Jan. 18. “We visited over 1,200 students in 54 classes across six schools in under three hours,” Valerie said.

HP provided construction paper and stickers for the students to use with their markers, crayons and colored pencils to create the cards.

This is the second year for the project. Last year, HP employees went to 17 classrooms. “We have more than tripled our outreach this year.”

In addition to the cards sent to ACH, 350 were donated to the Faulkner County Senior Citizen Center for use at its Valentine’s Day meal and distribution to shut-ins.
