28 Mar 2018 Heroes for Hope on April 7
The 7th Annual Heroes for Hope Race hosted by the Children’s Advocacy Alliance will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018. All participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero, because every child needs a hero but an abused or neglected child needs a superhero.
“The Heroes for Hope Race is more than a race, it’s a time to support all of the kids in our community.” said Executive Director Tess Fletcher.
The 10K, 5K and 1.31K races will be accompanied by a KidsFest, which will include free arts and crafts, a bounce house, games, a costume competition for kids and more. The events begin at 8 a.m. and conclude around 11 a.m.
In honor of local heroes, this year’s race is themed focusing on first responders. “Without our first responders, the kids we see at the CAA would be in a much worse place. Our community wouldn’t be as safe, and our jobs would be impossible. They are on the front lines of protecting these kids; we couldn’t think of a better group of people to honor this year.” said Fletcher.
The Children’s Advocacy Alliance believes that it is the responsibility of all community members to participate in child abuse prevention in their communities. This race is a way to raise awareness in honor of child abuse awareness month, and it is a way raise funding for the kids in
Central Arkansas.
"I have 198 reasons to run this race. Each child we serve is a reason to run. The 10K, 5K or whatever length we run is nothing compared to the race these kids have had to conquer. I’m not going to let them run it alone. I run because every child needs a hero, but these kids we work for need a superhero." said Leia Smith, outreach and marketing coordinator for the Children’s Advocacy Alliance.
The funding from this event goes directly to provide services in Faulkner, Van Buren, Searcy and Conway counties to the kids who have been victims of child abuse or neglect. Everyone who runs in the Heroes for Hope Race is a superhero.
