Hendrix welcomes new Esports coach

CONWAY — Hendrix College has announced Jordan Toland as its new head Esports coach.

Toland returns to his alma mater after serving as the Esports coach, robotics coach, and Project Lead the Way Gateway teacher at the Don Tyson School of Innovation in Springdale.

Jordan Toland.

“I could not be more thrilled to welcome Coach Toland back to Hendrix,” said Hendrix College Director of Athletics Amy Weaver. “Given his passion for Esports and Hendrix College, there is no one we would rather have leading our Esports program.”

“It means the world to return to Hendrix College,” said Toland. “I grew up in Central Arkansas, and I am proud to call this area my home. I see Esports at Hendrix as an opportunity to reach students in a unique competitive medium that is unrivaled by other sports. The opportunities for Esports at Hendrix are unlimited due to the support of our faculty, and the vision the school has for the future of our Esports program. Esports at Hendrix has excitement in the air!”

Toland, a Morrilton native, was a two-year starter and All-SAA selection on the offensive line for the Hendrix College football program and graduated from Hendrix with a B.A. in History in 2020.

“Dr. Phil once said, ‘The difference between a dream and a goal is a timeline and accountability,'” said Toland. “I take this with me everywhere I go, and I want to bring all of our dreams about Hendrix Esports and what it could be and turn them into a reality by holding myself accountable above all others for the success of the program. I bleed Black and Orange, and I am excited to be back home!”
