Health fair to be held at senior wellness center in May

CareLink is partnering with the Faulkner County Council on Aging and the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Conway to conduct a health fair at the Ola and John Hawks Senior Wellness and Activity Center at 705 East Siebenmorgan Road in Conway on Friday, May 15.

“With booths on topics like Medicare Part D, Medicare and Medicare Wellness/Prevention, blood pressure and healthy eating, we will be able to help older people in Conway and Faulkner County become more aware of potential health problems and more informed about preventive healthcare activities,” said Luke Mattingly, CareLink President and CEO.

“We are very excited to partner with CareLink to help serve the needs of our senior community,” said Debra Robinson, executive director of the Faulkner County Council on Aging.  “Our new facility will enable us to have more vendors to promote their services and share needed information.”

Some of the organizations that will have booths at the Health Fair are CareLink; DHS Division of Aging and Adult Services; Gary Cameron, University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Nursing; Walgreens; Erick McCarthy, dietician, Conway Hospice Home Care; Alzheimer’s Arkansas; Hurley Chiropractic; Susan G. Komen; Arkansas Heart Hospital; and Future Builders (tobacco prevention).

Last year, more than 18,000 people in Faulkner, Lonoke, Monroe, Prairie, Pulaski and Saline Counties were CareLinked with information and resources to help them stay active and in their own homes, avoiding more costly care. Older people and their caregivers can get the information and assistance they need from CareLink at 501.372.5300, toll-free at 800.482.6359 or by visiting carelink.org.
