24 Oct 2016 Harvest of Hope Food Drive
The Ninth Annual Harvest of Hope Food Drive for the Conway County Care Center will be held in October, with the culmination on Saturday Oct. 29.
The Care Center is overwhelmed with requests for food, and other assistance, and is working hard to keep up with the increased needs of the community. The need for food and assistance is at an all-time high. Food purchased from monetary donations is approaching more than $3,000 per month. This is an increase of about $400 per month over last year at this time. Summertime was especially busy this year. This amount does not include the short-term assistance provided to people in extreme circumstances.
The food drive includes the fifth annual “Fill The Truck,” planned 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Kroger parking lot at 1626 East Harding. The Kroger Culture Council is scheduled to feed volunteers and employees, and will have hamburgers and hot dogs available for the public to purchase. Also, during the day, there will be donation points set up at various stores around Morrilton and Conway County. Haynes Home Center provides the large truck to collect items.
The Ninth Annual Harvest of Hope Gospel Singing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Rialto Theater in Downtown Morrilton. Entertainment will be provided by local churches, individuals, choirs and youth groups. Admission is a $5 donation or five canned goods for adults, and $3 or three canned goods for children ages 12-18.
