RUSSELLVILLE — The Great American Conference announced the women’s soccer players of the week for the seventh week of the 2024 season. Ouachita Baptist’s McKenna Wright claimed Offensive Player of the Week; Harding’s Skylar Henley earned Defender of the Week, and Southern Nazarene’s Gianna Bonnett won Goalkeeper of the Week.

#theGAC WOMEN’S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – McKenna Wright, MF, Ouachita Baptist, Fr., Hot Springs, Arkansas

Wright helped the Tigers reclaim first place in the league with a goal and an assist as part of their 3-1 win against East Central. The assist, her first of the season, set up Reese Brown for the game-winning goal in the 67th minute. Three minutes later, her third goal of the season came on a successful breakaway attempt..

#theGAC WOMEN’S SOCCER DEFENDER OF THE WEEK – Skylar Henley, D, Harding, Fr., Bedford, Texas

Henley led the Lady Bisons to their fourth-straight victory as they shut out Ouachita Baptist, 2-0, on Wednesday. Harding registered its third shutout, second in GAC play. She scored the first goal of her collegiate career on a shot from outside the 18-yard box. The defense held Ouachita to just six shots and only three on target.

#theGAC WOMEN’S SOCCER GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK -Gianna Bonnett, GK, Southern Nazarene, Jr., Eastvale, California

Bonnett registered consecutive shutouts as the Crimson Storm picked up a 1-0 win against Oklahoma Baptist and played Southwestern Oklahoma State to a scoreless draw. Against the Bison, she made a pair of saves. Against the Bulldogs, she picked up six saves. She lowered her goals-against average to a league-leading 0.85; her five shutouts also lead the GAC.
