11 Dec 2024 Harding’s Hawley is GAC Defensive Player of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE — Harding University senior Sage Hawley has been named the Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in the Lady Bisons’ road wins against Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Hawley, a forward from Memphis, Tennessee, averaged 10.0 rebounds per game in the two victories. She finished with nine rebounds, three blocks, and three steals against Southwestern Oklahoma State, and grabbed 11 rebounds against Northwestern Oklahoma State, adding two blocks and two steals.

Hawley’s defensive efforts helped the Lady Bisons secure two important road wins, the only team in the GAC to open on the road with two victories.

Harding’s Rory Geer was also nominated for the GAC Player of the Week award.
