Harding Women’s Tennis extends win over Ouachita Baptist

SEARCY — Harding defeated Ouachita Baptist 6-1 in a women’s tennis match Tuesday, marking the 26th consecutive victory for the Lady Bisons in the series.

Harding (9-11, 2-2 GAC) won two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. The No. 40-ranked duo of Karli Roux and Alexia Zarate Valdez defeated Sadbaroy Kholdarova and Natalia Zamora 6-3, and Sofia Sarmiento Ruiz and Madison Stafford earned a 6-4 victory. Ouachita Baptist’s Jennifer Pfaefflin and Marlee Bledsoe defeated Natalia Alvarez and Itza Rogel 7-5.

In singles competition, Harding claimed five of the six matches. No. 12 Alexia Zarate Valdez defeated No. 36 Sadbaroy Kholdarova 6-4, 6-4, and No. 47 Karli Roux overcame a first-set loss to beat Natalia Zamora 1-6, 6-1, 7-5. Itza RogelMadison Stafford, and Natalia Alvarez also won their singles matches for Harding.

Ouachita Baptist (7-10, 0-3 GAC) earned its lone point from Ali May, who defeated Sofia Zulim 6-3, 6-2.

Harding is now in fourth place in the Great American Conference (GAC) standings. The Lady Bisons will conclude their regular season on April 25 at Southeastern Oklahoma.
