Harding women finish third

The Harding University women’s golf team shot a 26-over 314 in Round 3 of the GAC Women’s Golf Championships to finish the tournament with a 75-over 939 and in third place. Henderson State won the tournament with a 17-over 881.

Brenda Sanchez posted her third top-5 finish of the season after shooting a 1-over 73 and finished the tournament at 9-over 225 and in fifth place. Sanchez was one of two players to record an eagle in the tournament when she eagled her opening hole on Tuesday and made 14 pars in her final round. Sanchez also set a personal-best 54-hole tournament score wither her 225.

Alicia Martinez shot a 6-over 78 on Tuesday and finished the tournament at 16-over 232 and in tenth. It was Martinez’s third top-10 finish of the season. Julie Fierro also set a new personal low for a 54-hole tournament score at 26-over 242. Fierro shot a 9-over 81 on Tuesday and finished the tournament tied for 21st.

Abbey Bryan finished tied for 23rd after a 13-over 85 in Round 3 put her at 27-over 243 for the tournament. JoJo Perry finished tied for 29th with 31-over 247.
Gracen Blount of Henderson State took the individual title with a 1-under 215.

The Lady Bisons will now wait to see if they qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Bisons were ranked tenth in the latest regional rankings. The top 9 teams from the Central Region will move on to the Central/Midwest Regional in Hot Springs on May 2-4.
