RUSSELLVILLE — The Great American Conference announced the men’s and women’s basketball players of the week for the fourth week of the 2023-24 season. Arkansas Tech’s Taelon Peter earned the men’s honor while Harding’s Sage Hawley and Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Faith Simpson shared the Women’s award.

Peter lifted the Wonder Boys to victories against Arkansas-Monticello and Ouachita Baptist. He averaged 30.5 points per game on 63.3 percent shooting. He went 10-for-17 from the 3-point arc. He also added 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals across the two games. Against UAM, Peter tied his career high with 33 points. He led all scorers with 28 against the Tigers.
#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Sage Hawley, C, Harding, Sr., Memphis, Tennessee
Hawley guided the Lady Bisons to wins against a pair of 20-point wins as she averaged 22.0 points and 13.5 rebounds against Ouachita Baptist and Southern Arkansas. After tallying 11 points and 11 rebounds against the Tigers, she matched the program’s career record for double-doubles when she registered her 44th following a 33-point, 16-rebound effort against SAU.
#theGAC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Faith Simpson, F, Northwestern Oklahoma State, Sr., Palisade, Nebraska
Simpson extended her streak of 20-point games to four as she scored 23 against East Central and 24 against Oklahoma Baptist. She added eight rebounds and four steals against the Tigers. She went 8-for-12 from the floor and pulled down seven rebounds against the Bison. The Rangers improved to 8-0, their best start since they began 2001-02 with 10 straight wins.
