Harding players receive elite honor

SEARCY — Harding University women’s tennis players Natalia Alvarez and Alexia Zarate Valdez have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.

The CSC Academic All-District teams recognize top student-athletes for their performance in the classroom and on the court. To be eligible, student-athletes must have reached sophomore status with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and participated in 70% or more of the team’s dual matches.

Harding had an overall record of 10-12, including 3-2 in Great American Conference play.Alvarez, a sophomore from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, is an interior architecture and design major with a 3.69 GPA. She had an 11-11 overall record in singles and a 16-7 record in doubles. Zarate Valdez, a sophomore from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, is an international business major with a 3.59 GPA. She had a 15-8 record in singles and a 14-9 record in doubles.
