Harding player reaches 2,000-point milestone

DURANT, Okla. — Sage Hawley’s impressive double-double wasn’t enough to overcome Harding’s season-low shooting performance as Southeastern Oklahoma handed the Lady Bisons a 62-49 loss Thursday night.

Sage Hawley

Hawley led Harding with 21 points and 11 rebounds, her eighth double-double of the season, while becoming the second Lady Bison to surpass 2,000 career points. She also became the 45th player in NCAA Division II history with over 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.

Despite Hawley’s efforts, Harding’s shooting woes proved costly. The Lady Bisons shot a season-low 29.5% from the field, including 13.3% in the second quarter and 15.8% in the third quarter.

Southeastern Oklahoma (10-5, 7-2), meanwhile, pulled away in the fourth quarter, shooting 66.7% (8 of 12) to seal the win. Kenzli Warden led the Savage Storm with 18 points. Rory Geer added 12 points and six rebounds for Harding, which had its nine-game winning streak snapped and fell to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in the Great American Conference.

The Lady Bisons will look to bounce back Saturday against East Central in Ada, Oklahoma.
