07 Nov 2016 Harding plans veterans breakfast
Harding University’s American Studies Institute will host Breakfast with a Veteran from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in Charles White Dining Hall on the Harding campus. Veterans will be provided with a complimentary breakfast.
According to Austin Yates, ASI member and past president, the campus organization began hosting the breakfast event last year as a way to connect students to local veterans.
Attending veterans can expect an informal atmosphere to share in food and conversation with students and fellow veterans.
“Last year’s breakfast left me with a newfound respect for our veterans and reminded me that the freedoms to which I often feel entitled are owed to their sacrifices,” Yates said. “I suspect the breakfast will be especially meaningful this year amidst the election, as Veterans Day reminds us that we are all Americans, and that is a bond that extends far beyond political matters of the day. I have no doubt both students and veterans will leave with a full heart — and a full stomach.”
