The Harding University Carr College of Nursing will provide a free well-child health clinic through Thursday, April 6.

Free health screenings, including a complete check-up, vision and hearing screenings, and routine urine test, are offered for area children ages 2- to 8-years-old.

The purpose of the clinic is to provide an enjoyable screening process for community children while collecting the necessary health information for entry into preschool and kindergarten programs. The environment is ideal for children who are shy or apprehensive about health examinations. Nursing students, supervised by professors at all times, use playful techniques throughout the screening so that children have fun.

According to Nona Lacy, assistant professor of nursing, the clinic is a hands-on learning opportunity for students. Lacy, nursing students and experienced teachers from the Carr College of Nursing have performed health screenings for 38 years in area schools and health departments and for the HIPPY and Headstart programs.

The clinic is located in the Swaid Center for Health Sciences on Harding’s campus and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays until April 6.
