Hall of fame induction July 9

The Arkansas Sportscasters/Sportswriters Hall of Fame recently held its annual recognition banquet at the Centennial Valley Special Events Center in Conway.

Sportswriter Dr. Donna Lampkin Stephens of Conway (a 501 LIFE contributor) and sportscaster Rex Nelson of Arkadelphia – representing the 10th class for the ASCSW – were this year’s inductees.

NASCAR driver Mark Martin of Batesville was the keynote speaker. Mike Harrison served as master of ceremonies.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ray Rodgers, legendary promoter of amateur boxing in Arkansas and the director of the National Golden Gloves Championships and National Silver Gloves Championships.

This year’s Service Award went to the Bill Stephens Family. The Arkansas Sports Club Member of the Year was awarded to Don Campbell, legendary football coach of the Wynne Yellowjackets.
