The Glen Rose Beavers flirted with greatness in 2016. The Beavers’ only conference loss came by three points to eventual 3A champion Prescott, and Charleston, the 3A state runner-up, knocked out Glen Rose in the semi-finals.
Senior Zane Hardage and junior Caleb Barr compete for the starting quarterback job. Junior Jay’shawn Cox is back at running back after rushing for more than 700 yards last fall. Senior Jarred Rogers hauled in 448 yards at receiver last fall. Seniors Hunter Church, Andrew Davis, Alex Davis and Carson Fite lead the offensive linemen.
Seniors Josh Looper, Doyle Burks and John Wright and juniors Nicholas Pritchard and Jacob Lackey lead the defensive line rotation. Logan Taylor, Jonathan Wheatley, Dalen Baldwin and Barr return with experience at linebacker. Rogers led the team with six interceptions at corner last fall. Seniors Adam Day, Alex Prince and Noah Ellis round out the secondary.
