13 Jan 2014 Giving Tree Grants applications available
Nonprofits in Faulkner County can go to arcf.org to download an application for Giving Tree Grants through Faulkner County Community Foundation, an affiliate of Arkansas Community Foundation. Applications must be submitted by Saturday, Feb. 15.
“Our Giving Tree grant program provides funding to support programs that are already working to improve our communities and helps establish new initiatives that fill unmet needs,” said Heather Larkin, president and CEO of the Community Foundation.
“Because this funding is targeted to support specific communities in Arkansas, our state’s nonprofit organizations have a local place to turn for help implementing great ideas.”
Any IRS 501(c)(3) public charity, public school, government agency or hospital in Faulkner County is eligible to apply. Other applicants may be considered if the project has a clear charitable purpose for the public benefit. Grants are not made to individuals. Applications will be reviewed by a grantmaking committee from Faulkner County Community Foundation.
“Our Giving Tree Grants will range from $750 to $3,000,” said Julie LaRue, executive director. “Since 2001, Faulkner County Community Foundation has granted over $215,000 in Giving Tree Grants to non-profits in our community. Additionally, over $1 million has been granted through our various endowments and funds.”
Giving Tree Grants support efforts in areas such as human services, education, health, environment and community development.
In fiscal year 2013, Arkansas Community Foundation and its 27 affiliates awarded more than $725,000 in Giving Tree grants across the state. Funding for the Giving Tree program comes from hundreds of Arkansas donors who support the work of the Community Foundation.
