01 Jan 2010 Girl Scout Cookies
This year customers can choose from eight varieties of Girl Scout Cookies including one new selection, Thank You Berry Munch. The new cookie is a hearty treat sweetened by real cranberries, white fudge chips and crispy rice. The traditional favorites: Do-si-Dos, Dulce de Leche, Lemon Chalet Cremes, Samaos, Tagalongs, Thin Mints and Trefoils will be returning. All cookies are $3.50 and contain zero grams of trans fat.
While the cookies are delicious, according to Girl Scout – Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas CEO Denise Stewart they offer a great experience for the girls selling the treats. “The Girl Scout Cookie Program offers a chance for girls to operate their business. They work as a team to make and reach goals all while they are practicing marketing, money management and communications.
In addition to providing a valuable program experience for girls, all proceeds from the cookie program fund Girl Scout troops, camps, training and programs for close to the 18,000 members served by the council.
For individuals that do not wish to purchase cookies but want to support Girl Scouts there is the Gift of Caring program. Through this program, consumers can buy cookies and leave them with the troop to be donated to a charitable organization of the troop’s choice. Troops in the past have donated cookies to shelters, nursing homes, hospitals, and soldiers overseas and in the country.
For more information on purchasing cookies contact the local Girl Scout office at 800-632-6894 or contact local cookie sale manager Susan Eggert at 501-513-0420 or visit www.girlscoutsdiamonds.org.
