The annual Get Down Downtown festival will be held from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, and 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, in Downtown Searcy. Admission is free and the event will feature live music on the First Security Bank Stage, Unity Health’s Kid Zone at Spring Park on Saturday and a car cruise-in for classic vehicles on Friday.
Nashville recording band Restless Heart, presented in part by White River Flooring, will be the headlining performance on Saturday at the First Security Bank Stage at 8 p.m. The performance lineup at First Security Bank Stage also includes Love and a Revolver, Sawyer’s Mill, Clark Family Trio featuring Bill Nesbitt, Belles and Beaux, Breaking Chains, Sierra & Khya Carson, Dara Niemi, Clogging Thunder, O’Donovan School of Irish Dance, Anna Brinker, Melanie Meriney and Tony-Ray Thompson.
The Unity Health Kid Zone will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Spring Park. The Kid Zone will include carnival games for 25 cents and pony rides for $5. Free activities in the Kid Zone include inflatable jumpers, a petting zoo and various live performances.
The Car Cruise-In will be at 6 p.m. Friday in the Pleasure Street parking lot across from the library. All classic vehicles are welcome, and participants do not need to register or pay an entry fee. Call Jason Barnett with Barnett Towing Recovery at 501.281.3632 for more information.
Get Down Downtown is a family-friendly event that will host more than 100 vendors including concessions, crafts, merchandise and other local businesses. First Baptist Church will be opening their doors to parents of infants and toddlers by providing a diaper changing station in their church building.
The festival is sponsored by Main Street Searcy, a nonprofit organization working to enhance historic Downtown Searcy by providing design, organization, promotional activities and economic development.
