Garrett named Region 2 Player of the Week

HOT SPRINGS — National Park College (NPC) Nighthawk sophomore guard Khyra Garrett (Brownsboro, Texas) was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Region 2 Player of the Week for her outstanding performance on the court this week.

In the sixth week of reporting this season, Garrett averaged 20 points for the Region 2-leading Nighthawks (8-8, 3-0), who finished 3-1 for the week. The sophomore achieved a career-high 28 points in an overtime loss at NJCAA Division I No. 6 Three Rivers College and finished with 23 and 11 points, respectively, in Region 2 wins over South Arkansas College and Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas. Garrett also scored 17 points in NPC’s 79-38 win over Arlington Baptist University’s junior varsity team.

Averaging 12.9 points per game, Garrett leads the Nighthawks in scoring this season, while also serving as the Region 2 leader in field goals (69) and NPC’s team leader in three-pointers (15), free throws (53) and blocks (15).
