Fourth annual Conway EcoFest scheduled

The fourth annual Conway EcoFest is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, in Laurel Park. A variety of environmental issues and topics will be presented in the fun-filled, interactive event.

A section on pets also will be added.

The GREEN Mobile, an interactive solar power laboratory, will be available as will be information on practical ways to incorporate solar power and ways to reduce energy use in homes and businesses.

Other new items at the 2012 EcoFest include:

Additional cooking demonstrations.

  • Alpacas and a demonstration of wool being woven into cloth.
  • Expanded information on recycling/waste, organics, water and energy issues.
  • A look at the Lake Conway Watershed project.

Co-organizer Ashley Spurr said that the goal of this event is not to tell people what to think but rather to provide information to help visitors make informed choices or at least challenge them to seek out additional information while encouraging an appreciation for the environment.
