Four Harding golfers earn All-America Scholar honors 

SEARCY — The Harding men’s golf program continues to excel both on the course and in the classroom, as Finlay CummingsChristian LindgreenDennis Staykov, and José Arzú have been named 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Harding was one of only 17 NCAA Division II schools nationally to boast four recipients. In total, 207 NCAA Division II athletes from 78 institutions earned the prestigious distinction.

Finlay Cummings

Leading the academic charge for the group, Christian Lindgreen, a Kinesiology and Sport Administration major, achieved a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA, complementing his impressive 73.5 stroke average. Finlay Cummings, an International Business major, earned the honor with a 3.84 GPA and a 74.8 stroke average. Dennis Staykov, a Civil Engineering major, maintained a 3.37 GPA while posting the team’s best stroke average among the honorees at 72.3. Rounding out the quartet, José Arzú, also an International Business major, was recognized with a 74.0 stroke average. It was the second All-America Scholar honor for both Cummings and Staykov.

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior academically and athletically, participate in 50% of their team’s competitive rounds, maintain a stroke average under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, and carry a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. Recipients must also be of high moral character and in good standing at their respective institutions.

The four All-America Scholars were key contributors to a highly successful season for the Bisons, who placed second at the Great American Conference Championships and went on to finish fifth at the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Regional. This marks the second consecutive year that Harding has had a team-best four Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honorees. Since 2013, Harding men’s golf has now accumulated 22 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar citations, a testament to the program’s enduring legacy of developing well-rounded student-athletes.
