Former Razorback Sidney Moncrief launches career development program

Sidney Moncrief, former Razorback and NBA player, partner at ONE TEAM PSCG, recently announced the extension of his Game Changer Inc. brand and mission into the development of a new career readiness and professional development institute – the Moncrief Institute for College and Career Readiness.

With his 60th birthday bash gala on Friday, Sept. 22, Moncrief and his wife, Takisha, launch fundraising and public plans for their institute. It will begin in Little Rock, with plans to expand to key cities nationwide.

“We have long dreamed to launch this institute in my hometown of Little Rock,” said Moncrief. “My desire is to be a game changer in the lives of others through cutting edge professional development. We will be uniquely dedicated to developing soft skills necessary for success in today’s competitive environment.”

The schedule:

Friday, Sept. 22

Sidney’s 60th Birthday Bash will take place 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Arkansas Arts Center for “A Night in Napa with the Triplets & Friends.” There will be a toast and roast, live music, silent auction, plus good food. The bash for Moncrief includes the “Razorback triplets” – Sidney Moncrief, Ron Brewer and Marvin Delph.

Tickets range from $100 to $250 (VIP), and for those who cannot attend, they can still be a "game changer" and by donating $60 for Sidney’s 60th at sidneymoncrief.org.

All proceeds from the birthday celebration will benefit Moncrief Game Changer, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization and will go toward the Moncrief Institute for College and Career Readiness, supporting student development and participation in game changing experiences.

Saturday, Sept. 23

A kick-off forum will take place noon to 2 p.m. at Philander Smith College in Little Rock. The public announcement will be made to officially launch the Moncrief Institute for College and Career Readiness. Moncrief and his Game Changer Inc. team will discuss programming, spotlight corporate sponsor partners and showcase students who will benefit from the institute.

Following the forum, there will be the Moncrief Parade of Game Changer Coaches event from 4 to 6 pm. Four legendary basketball coaches who have changed the lives of many student athletes will be honored:

Oliver Elders – Former coach of Horace Mann High School and Hall High School

Eddie Boone – Former coach for Central High School

Johnny Greenwood – Former coach for Central High School

Charles Ripley – Former coach for Little Rock Parkview

“These coaches have changed the lives of many student athletes and I am excited to have them in one spot to be recognized and for them to share their talents and leadership once again with Arkansas youth,” said Moncrief.

There will be a basketball clinic and leadership forum for area student athletes from 10 Central Arkansas high schools. Each of the four coaches will announce their namesake scholarship award winners.

Focused on students and young adults, the Moncrief Institute is uniquely dedicated to developing soft skills to achieve career readiness in leadership, entrepreneurship, sales and customer service development. Moncrief and his wife, Takisha, have deeply rooted their company and non-profit, in “game changing” skills. In the Moncrief Institute, they leverage their talents with a combined effort from community leaders and partners to positively change and prepare students and young adults.
