The Pulaski Academy Bruins opened the 2008 season with a loss at West Helena, 46-29. Pulaski Academy didn’t lose another game, setting up a rematch with West Helena in the 5A state championship game.

The Bruins got revenge, beating the Cougars, 35-32, to capture their second championship in school history. The Bruins’ offense was remarkable, averaging 50 points per game.

Repeating as champs won’t be easy as the Bruins return only four starters – one on offense and three on defense.

Senior Parker Mack (6-4, 305) is the Bruins’ lone returning offensive starter. The three-year starter provides protection at left tackle.

Senior Sam Vogel (6-0, 185) leads the defense from the secondary. The free safety recorded 77 tackles, five interceptions and five sacks in 2008.

Pulaski Academy will have to hold off Little Rock Christian, Camden Fairview and Magnolia to hold on to its 5A-Southwest crown.
