30 Sep 2013 'Festival of Chairs' Oct. 5
The Friends of CASA will host the 12th Annual Festival of Chairs 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Centennial Valley Events Center.
The event benefits the Children’s Advocacy Alliance, a partnership between the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the 20th Judicial District and the Central Arkansas Children’s Advocacy Center. The Children’s Advocacy Alliance provides hope, healing and a voice for justice for abused and neglected children in our community.
The Festival of Chairs’ signature feature is the beautifully repurposed chairs that go up for auction. Talented local artists take broken and damaged chairs and with a lot of love and creativity bring them back to life. The chairs are symbolic of the children and families the Children’s Advocacy Alliance serves on a daily basis. These chairs, along with other art work and hundreds of other unique and exciting items, are featured in live and silent auctions. The chairs will be on display in businesses around town prior to the event.
Known as one of the biggest fundraising events in the Conway community, the Festival of Chairs also features a Bubbly and Baubles raffle with a gorgeous ring with a 2.13 carat chocolate brown princess cut center surrounded by a total of 1.22 carats in side stones, valued at $15,000, donated by Fletcher Smith’s Jewelers. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased in the store. Only 300 tickets will be sold. The winner does not have to attend the Festival of Chairs to win.
Fabulous hors d’oeuvres provided by Mike’s Place, Pasta Grill, Chili’s, TGIFriday’s, US Pizza, Taziki’s, Umami and Patti Cakes will be served.
The live auction will feature a South African photo safari package for two people for six days and six nights lodging at the Zulu Nyala Game Lodge. The package includes three full meals daily and two guided wildlife viewing activities daily with an experience guide on the Zulu Nyala Wildlife reserve. Air travel is not included, but the winners do receive a special promotional code to take advantage of preferred air travel pricing with South African Airways. With attendance expected to be high this year, event organizers are recommending everyone purchase their tickets ahead of time.
