14 Feb 2022 Faulkner County Spelling Bee winners announced

The Faulkner County Spelling Bee was held Feb. 10 at the Mayflower Middle School gymnasium. Twenty-two students from Conway, Mayflower, Greenbrier, St. Joseph and Vilonia Schools took part.

Braden Eason from Vilonia Middle School won 1st Place by correctly spelling “justaucorps” which was a fitted, knee-length coat worn by men centuries ago. Eason will attend the State Spelling Bee on March 5 at Little Rock’s Vines Center. 

His alternate would be 2nd Place winner Sky Martinez from Greenbrier Junior High. Others who placed in the Top five include: Andrew Tran from St. Joseph School, Lillian Fisher from Greenbrier’s Westside Elementary, and Caleb Grigg from St. Joseph.
