29 Dec 2014 Faulkner County Library to welcome Still on the Hill
The Faulkner County Library will welcome Still On the Hill for an afternoon of fun for the whole family at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2.
Seemingly oblivious to the limitations of what two musicians can create, Still on the Hill has set new boundaries of originality. This duo uses traditional instruments from their home in the Ozarks (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, guitar, harmonica and scrub board) and other oddities such as the musical saw, ukelin and tenor uke to create a kaleidoscope of musical color and texture. Since 2001, the duo of Kelly Mulhollan and Donna Stjerna have toured steadily and produced six CDs. The group’s repertoire is primarily their own original, roots-based compositions (a genre hybrid they term "OzarkinFolk") interspersed with new arrangements of traditional songs. The twosome has also created several very popular children’s shows and educational workshops.
This program is funded in part by a grant from the Arkansas Arts Council.
All library programs are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 501.327.7482 or email [email protected].
