21 Jul 2012 Faulkner Co. Library plans 'Food for Fines'
In exchange for non-perishable food items that are donated, the library will waive any outstanding fines.
“We are collecting food items to donate to a local food pantry,” said Nancy Allen, adult services and reference librarian. “Bring in your tuna fish and small jars of mayonnaise; boxed macaroni and cheese; canned vegetables and fruit, instant oatmeal and grits; cans of spaghetti sauce, ravioli, soups and stews, and those fines will be history.”
In exchange for a school backpack, the library will forgive the cost of a lost or billed item.
Food items and backpacks may be delivered to any branch library in Conway, Clinton, Greenbrier, Mayflower, Mount Vernon, Twin Groves and Vilonia.
