10 Jul 2013 'Family Track Night' celebrated
Participants in a free Family Track Night recently celebrated completion of the program.
Conway Regional Health and Fitness Center and the Conway Running Club sponsored the program, which kicked off May 28 at the Conway High School track.
“This free, family event was then held each Tuesday in June and it was a huge success,” said Amanda Castillo, marketing coordinator and interim group exercise coordinator at the fitness center.
Nearly 100 kids participated over the five week program. “All ages were welcome with distances varying from 50M for the little ones, to 1600M for ages 10 and up.”
A celebration and fun meet was held the final night, complete with an official timing clock, finisher medals and refreshments compliments of Smoothie King.
The goal was to promote fun and fitness for families. An open freestyle run was offered, in addition to various meter dashes (starting small for the little ones) each week to engage and excite young people with fitness.
“Plans for next year are already underway!”
