Free backpacks, school supplies and haircuts will be distributed to youth. Other activities include bounce houses, face painting, food trucks, snow cones and more. The goal of the initiative is to celebrate and engage families in the North Little Rock community, and is led by Renee Henson, Sherman Park Community Center Director and North Little Rock CARES Youth Coalition member.

“I love serving my community,” Henson said. “I’ve been doing it for over 40 years. I never like to see a kid go without, so I make sure our kids have everything they need. I’ll do whatever it takes to help our families get ready for the start of a new school year.”

Last year, more than 500 youth and parents attended” Family Fun Day” and more than 20 community partners donated supplies and services.
