Fairfield Bay plans ‘Luau at the Lake’

The Second Annual Luau at the Lake will be 4 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Fairfield Bay Marina.

Bring your flowered shirts and hula skirts as the Bay celebrates an authentic Hawaiian luau, complete with games, music and traditional Hawaiian fare.

“We had such fun last year, that we couldn’t wait to do it all again,” said John Conry, Fairfield Bay Marina Manager. “We had locals as well as visitors to our area laughing, doing the hula and having an all around blast as we celebrated, ate and danced our way through the luau.”

The fun kicks off at 4 o’clock with contests for best Hawaiian costume, best decorated boat, best hula hoop and best limbo. Show off your bull riding skills on the mechanical bull, sponsored by Steve Landers Cowboy Auto Group.

Dinner will be served at 5:30 with pork roast and an abundance of other island dishes to enjoy. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Fairfield Bay Marina. Hot dogs and chips will also be available for $5. Tickets are limited.

After all the contests, dancing and food, sit back in the shade of the dock (or pull up on your boat) and take in the sounds of the Good Vibes Band, playing a variety of Calypso, Caribbean and Reggae sounds. They’ll play until the sun sets over beautiful Greers Ferry Lake.
