Evatt in the running in Disney contest

Eight-year-old gymnast Ellen Evatt is among the finalists in a contest sponsored by Disney.

Ellen Evatt is being considered as a finalist in the "Make Your Mark Shake it Up Dance Off."

A current member of the Level 4 gymnastic team at Sonshine Academy in Conway, Ellen recently submitted a video of herself tumbling and dancing to audition for the "Make Your Mark Shake it Up Dance Off." 

She was notified that she is being considered as a finalist to win a trip to Hollywood. The top finalists will be announced on Friday, Sept. 14. (Ellen’s video can be viewed on the official Disney website at http://makeyourmark.disney.go.com/s/fpcm8a)

"Shake It Up" is a television show on the Disney Channel featuring dancers. She learned about the contest through the show and was determined to be a finalist. 

With the guidance of her private tumbling coach, they created a routine to submit. She was notified by letter that she was being considered as a finalist and the video could be viewed on the website.

“We welcome everyone to go to the link to ‘like’ and comment on her video,” said Eric Marsh, assistant business manager at Sonshine. “She likes to check every day to see how many have seen her video!”

Ellen’s coaches are  Lauren Mohlke, Sax Engel and Drew Pate.
