Editor’s Note September ’16: Celebrating Baby Boomers!

This month, 501 LIFE is celebrating that special generation known as Baby Boomers.

By definition, those who were born between 1946 and 1964 are classified in this group. The designation stems from the “boom” of babies that were born following the end of World War II.

501 LIFE enlisted the help of our friends at First Service Bank to identify two individuals who represent the beginning of the era and the end to feature on this month’s cover. We were excited when we discovered that two special friends to the magazine, Marilyn Battles and Lori Melton, would be helping us with this issue. Both have had wonderful careers in banking and have gone above and beyond to help others in the community.

During their interviews (see Page 44), Marilyn and Lori shared some interesting thoughts on this special generation and their experiences growing up. (Thank you, Marilyn and Lori!)

501 LIFE would like to congratulate two members of our outstanding team – Donna Lampkin Stephens and Vivian Hogue – on some recent and well-deserved recognition.

Donna’s contributions in the area of sports writing were celebrated recently as she was inducted into the Arkansas Sportscasters/Sportswriters Hall of Fame (Page 18).

Vivian recently won a handful of awards from the Arkansas Press Women for columns she wrote for 501 LIFE (Page 66).

Both writers do a wonderful job and we are so blessed that they are members of the 501 LIFE Team. We are happy to celebrate them and their accomplishments!

Until next month, here’s to “Loving LIFE” in the 501!
