Deadline set Aug. 1 for BOW program registration

Want to learn more about the great outdoors in Arkansas? The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s “Becoming an Outdoors-Woman” program is an outdoors skills workshop for women. The objective is to provide a non-threatening atmosphere where women can have fun learning skills that will enhance their enjoyment of Arkansas’s outdoors.

This year’s program will be held Friday, Sept. 11, through Sunday, Sept. 13. Deadline for registration is Aug 1. A few of the activities in the BOW program include: firearm safety, basic fishing skills, boating safety, Dutch oven cooking, birding, scuba diving and basic camping skills.

The BOW workshop is held at the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Ferndale. It is located about 15 miles west of Little Rock. Classes begin at noon on Friday and end at noon on Sunday. Participants will pick four classes, one on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Raffles, door prizes and evening programs are included.
