11 Jun 2025 De Ruiter makes history as Harding’s first Men’s Tennis All-American
SEARCY – Harding University men’s tennis senior Cas de Ruiter has achieved a monumental milestone, becoming the first player in program history to earn NCAA Division II All-America honors since Harding transitioned to NCAA Division II competition during the 1997-98 season.

The prestigious All-America recognition is awarded by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) to student-athletes who finish among the top 20 in the national rankings. De Ruiter secured his place in the record books by finishing the 2025 season ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II singles.
De Ruiter’s individual performance throughout the 2025 season was exceptional. He compiled a stellar 19-12 overall record, showcasing his dominance on the court. He set a school record by defeating eight nationally ranked opponents. In the fall, he became the first Harding player ever to reach the semifinals of the ITA Cup, the NCAA II national championship tournament.
Beyond his singles success, de Ruiter also excelled in doubles play. Partnering with junior Adrian Solorzano, the duo achieved a No. 11 national doubles ranking, missing All-America honors by one spot. They posted a 17-9 record together, further solidifying de Ruiter’s impact across both disciplines. This marks the third time in the last three seasons Harding has had a top-12 doubles team, with de Ruiter being a part of all three.
The team, under the leadership of head coach David Redding, concluded the 2025 season ranked a program-best No. 21 in the final ITA NCAA Division II Rankings, achieving a 15-7 overall record and reaching the semifinals of the Central Region Tournament.
