Classification: 5-2A

Last Season: 1-9 (0-7)

Cutter Morning Star endured a bumpy ride during its two-year stint in 3A football, tallying just three wins — all non-conference victories.

Second-year coach T.C. Shamel looks to right the ship this year as the Eagles return to familiar territory in the 5-2A.

Senior quarterback Cody Machen (5-9, 170) returns at the helm for the Eagles. Junior Spencer May (6-0, 175) also has quarterbacking experience and is a solid option at receiver.

Senior Michael Sims (6-2, 185) and sophomore Zack Wren (6-1, 170) expect to split time in the backfield. Juniors Jesse Teague (6-1, 175) and Ethan Sutton (5-5, 125) and senior CJ Hughes (5-7, 160) should all see play at receiver.

The Eagles return seven defensive starters this year and will rely on the leadership of seniors Tylar Sieck (5-9, 170) and Blake Cooper (5-7, 175) and the talents of juniors Austin Morphew (5-7, 170) and Sean Moore (5-8, 205) to cut into the 40 points-per-game average that the Eagles allowed in 2011.
