Couples to host hospital fundraiser

St. Anthony’s Foundation along with co-chairs Tara and George Nawar, M.D. and Juanebe and Russell Allison, M.D. will host the fourth annual Melodies and Medicine event at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.   Juanebe and Dr. Russell Allison; Tara and Dr. George Nawar.

With the theme “Puttin’ on the Glitz,” the event will be held on the lawn at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Morrilton. It will feature a “Taste of Morrilton” dinner featuring dishes from local restaurants and music by Arkansas Jazz Trio. 

Throughout the evening, competitors sponsored by local businesses will compete in the Melodies and Medicine talent competition, with the winner determined by dollar donation voting. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid during a live auction.

All proceeds from the Melodies and Medicine event support the healing mission of St. Anthony’s and will be dedicated to the purchase of patient care equipment in the surgery department.

In 2010, St. Anthony’s Medical Center and event co-chairmen Dr. Peter and Bernadette Post hosted more than 300 guests and raised $40,500 to purchase patient care equipment for the radiology department.

A native of Lebanon, Nawar has been practicing in the Morrilton community since 1998 when he opened the Morrilton Surgery Clinic. A native of Morrilton, Allison completed his bachelor’s degree at Arkansas Tech University and his medical training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
