Couples: The Madsens

Christina Munoz Madsen and her husband Dave recently moved to Conway, where she is the new associate vice president of communications, public relations and marketing at the University of Central Arkansas.

Where did you grow up: Gettysburg, S.D.

Education: Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D.

Job: Stay-at-home dad.

Parents: Larry Madsen and Janet Madsen.

Hobbies/special interests: Building and flying radio control airplanes, motorcycle riding, a variety of outdoor activities and cooking.

Favorite restaurant in the 501: Riverfront Steakhouse in North Little Rock.
 
Most enjoyed weekend activity: Hanging out with my family by the pool, going out to eat and grilling out.

What do you love about living in the 501: The attributes that make it the Natural State, access to hiking trails, quality rock climbing, a lot of outdoor activities and entertainment.

Parents: David Elder from Yankton (deceased) and Lelia Elder from La Serena, Chile.

Community activities: Member of the Conway Kiwanis Club, honorary member of the League of United Latin American Citizens and advisory board member of Ballet Arkansas.

Church activities: Leader of a Bible study group.

Hobbies/special interests: Singing, dancing, playing guitar and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins and UCA Bears.
 
Favorite restaurant in the 501: Dairy Queen in Conway.
 
Most enjoyed weekend activity: Hanging out with my husband and two daughters, playing in the pool and grilling out with friends.
 
What do you love about living in the 501: The great Conway schools and the community — it’s big enough to have restaurants, entertainment and activities but small enough to have that tight-knit community feel.

How we met: At a Christmas party for 1450 KYNT Yankton. Christina was a radio announcer (nights and weekends) and Dave was a sales account executive. We worked at the same place for three months, but our differing schedules meant we didn’t meet until the Christmas party.
 
The proposal: On a dock at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, our favorite place to go canoeing.

Wedding bells: Sept. 1, 2001, United Church of Christ Congregational in Yankton, S.D.
 
Children: Sydney Raquel, 5, and Reagan Anne, 2.

Pet: Lucy (beagle).

Family activities enjoyed together: Playing in the pool on a hot summer day, going out to eat, watching movies, visiting family and hanging out with friends.
